“You Need Another Man—Finding the One Who Truly Fulfills

“Relax! I’m not here to break marriages. I’m here to break barriers.”
When I first shared this title, You Need Another Man, the reactions were priceless. Some people gasped. A few chuckles. Others looked alarmed. And that’s okay. It’s a title meant to make you pause, think, maybe even tilt your head a little.
It’s okay if you interpret it in different ways really. The Holy Spirit has a way of taking a phrase like that and dividing it into a thousand meanings, meeting each of us right where we are.

The Man We All Need
Early this year, while reading the book of John, the Lord began to whisper to me about women who followed Jesus. One of them Samaria’s woman at the well stood out. This wasn’t just another Bible story. It was an invitation. Because whether we realize it or not, we all need another Man not one of flesh and blood, but the Man at the well, Jesus. The One who knows us, loves us, and offers living water that never runs dry. We often read her story with pity, but she’s every one of us in disguise searching for fulfillment in relationships, careers, success, and approval that never truly satisfy.

The Well and the Cracked Bucket
Life is like a well. We keep drawing from its relationships, validation, money, work, and motherhood, but the bucket always runs dry again. Why? Because our buckets are cracked.
They can’t hold what only the Living Water can fill.
So, when I read about this Samaritan woman, I realized: the miracle wasn’t just that she met Jesus. It was that Jesus was waiting for her right where her cracks were showing.

The Man at the Well
This isn’t the first time God met a woman at a well.
He met Hagar there, the first woman to encounter God and name Him El Roi, “The God Who Sees Me.”
He sent Abraham’s servant to a well, where he prayed for a wife for Isaac and God answered.
The well has always been God’s meeting place for women. And maybe, just maybe, He’s still waiting for us at ours.
There’s something powerful about a woman who finally meets the right Man. Not just any man but the Man.

Where God Meets Us
Here’s the thing: God often meets us right where we struggle most.
If jealousy is your weakness, you’ll see everyone else get what you’ve prayed for.
If patience is your lesson, He’ll put you behind every slow driver on I-95 until your prayer changes from “Lord, why?” to “Lord, help me wait.”
And for our friend Samari (let’s call her that), whose struggle was with men, God met her through one.
She came to the well expecting loneliness and instead met Another Man.

Sometimes the Trip Has to Be Solo
Notice this: she came alone. No friends, no gossip partners, no “clique” of women. Sometimes God needs you to make the trip by yourself.
It’s okay to take a solo trip with Jesus.
If you’ve been judged, misunderstood, or just plain tired; if your relationships aren’t working, your husband isn’t cooperating, or your heart feels empty, you’re not disqualified. You’re invited.
Jesus is still waiting at the well.

Living Water Is for Everyone
In Luke 15, when the prodigal son returned home dirty and broke, his father saw him while he was still a long way off. That’s grace seeing someone’s heart before their appearance changes.
That’s the same way Jesus looked at this Samaritan woman and how He looks at you. The living water isn’t for perfect people. It’s for everyone.

How We Approach People Matters
Jesus didn’t start with judgment; He started with conversation. He said, “Please, give me a drink.” Imagine that. The Savior of the world asking a broken woman for help. He made her feel valuable before He corrected her. We can learn from that. Sometimes evangelism doesn’t start with a sermon; it starts with a sentence that makes someone feel seen. Jesus didn’t go around Samaria He went through it. Because He wanted her.
If Only You Knew

When Jesus said, “If only you knew the gift of God…” He was telling her and us You have no idea how loved you are.
He is not like the others. He can handle your past, your drama, and your disappointments and still look you in the eye and say, “You are exactly who I came for.”
If only you knew how patient, kind, and forgiving He is.
If only you knew that He has been waiting to unwrap the gift He placed inside you.
If only you knew how He sees you, you would ask Him for the living water that never runs dry.

Come Clean and Come Close
When Jesus told her, “Go call your husband,” He wasn’t shaming her; he was giving her a chance to be honest. She said, “I have no husband.” And Jesus replied, “You have spoken the truth.”
Transformation starts when truth steps forward.
However you’ve been hiding your brokenness, disappointment, and failed dreams, bring it to the well. That’s where healing begins.

Leave Your Jar
John 4:28 says, “The woman left her water jar beside the well and ran back to the village.”
The jar represented everything temporary: her shame, her thirst. Once she met the real Source, she didn’t need the jar anymore.
What jar are you still carrying?
Perfectionism? Approval? Pain?
You can leave it at the well.

What Happens When You Meet This Man?
You start leading others to Him.
Her testimony drew a whole village to Jesus.
Your credibility changes.
People who once judged you will see the glow of grace and say, “We believe now, because we’ve seen Him ourselves.”
Your story changes.
You came empty, but you’ll leave overflowing.
He Can Use You, Too
God can use anyone. He used Rahab, a woman with a reputation, to save her entire household. He used the Samaritan woman to reach an entire city.
So don’t count yourself out because of your past.
You’re not “unlucky.” You’re unfinished.
When Jesus becomes your “other Man,” He becomes the last one you’ll ever need.

Your Turn
Maybe you’ve been drawing from the wrong wells relationships, achievements, even ministry and still feel empty. Maybe your bucket keeps cracking.
That’s your sign to take a trip back to the well.
Because the Man who waited for Samari is still waiting for you.
You don’t need another relationship to feel whole.
You need another man. the Man at the well, the Man on the cross, the Man who still meets women at their lowest and turns them into world changers.

So, go back.
Read John 4 again.
Sit with it.
Fall in love with the Lord again.
Because once you’ve met this Man, you’ll never thirst the same way again.
