Lord, What Shall I Call This?

 

A name is a means of identifying a person, an object or a situation. When I see something and it has a name , I am able to give an identity to it because of the name. The name can tell me the function of a thing, what it can do and sometimes names might have a background story. 

Mary and Joseph were visited by the angel of the Lord with specific instruction on what to call their child. The angel said " you shall call him Jesus which means savior. God did not  give this new parents the opportunity to name their "first child". It is important they get the right name. Before this event the same angel had visited Mary's cousin Elizabeth to give them a message from God. In this case the child they are expecting has also be named by God. 

In Genesis chapter 2 verse 19, God asked Adam to name the wild animals and the birds of the sky. Whatever Adam called the animals, that is what it is called. 

There are certain things that should be named by God . He has the sole right to give it a name because it is His idea. Luke 1v 31 " You will conceive and give birth to a son and you will name him Jesus." he is going to be your son but I will be the one to name him, You are going to be responsible for raising and nurturing him but the name will be God's responsibility. 

Generations will find purpose, salvation, healing and lots more in this name. When God named a thing it is for an eternal purpose. The name Jesus reveals his identity.  You will call him Wonderful, Counselor, Almighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace and of His kingdom, there will be no end.

What has God given to you to name? What have you called it? What has He birth through you? Have you asked God the meaning of the vision He showed you? Has God placed a child in your care? A business to grow? A community to transform? God has a name for it. The purpose is attached to that name. 

Begin to call God's intention on the child, vision, business, and  your community. 

Prayer Point:

Lord open my eyes to see what you have placed in my hands. I speak over these things (mention them, business, children, home, work) that they will live to their true identity in Jesus mighty name.
